San Marcos Citizen Police Academy Class Starts In February

The citizen’s police academy is open to all San Marcos residents, business owners and their employees who wish to attend.

The San Marcos Police Department will begin its Winter Citizen Police Academy classes on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2017 in the auditorium at the San Marcos Police Department, located at 2300 S IH-35.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is a 14- week course that offers citizens a unique view into how police officers perform their duties and serve the community.

The instruction is comprehensive, covering different facets of police work. Each block of instruction is presented by law enforcement professionals.

Classes meet on Thursday evenings, 6-9 p.m. at the San Marcos Police Department.  Classes on the driving track and shooting range are held on Saturdays.

The CPA is free of charge. All materials need for the course are provided by the San Marcos Police Department.

Who may attend?

The citizen’s police academy is open to all San Marcos residents, business owners and their employees who wish to attend. Eligible persons must be 18 years of age and pass a criminal history check.

Applications are available online at www.sanmarcostx.gov/cpa. The San Marcos Police Department encourages interested students to submit their applications as soon as possible, since class size is limited.
