Ten Local Companies Named Finalists for Future of Care: Healthcare Innovation Awards

One Will be Named Innovation of the Year on April 27

Ten Central Texas companies are finalists for Seton Healthcare Family’s The Future of Care: Healthcare Innovation Awards, to be presented April 27 at the Future of Care: Innovation Luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Finalists were selected from 85 applications by a panel of judges that includes entrepreneurs, consultants, physicians, academics and investors. All 10 finalists will be featured in a pre-luncheon showcase where company representatives will demonstrate and explain their innovative products and services.

Three of the 10 will win awards at the luncheon, and one will be named Innovation of the Year. Prizes include mentorships and work sessions with clinical teams, innovation leaders and subject matter experts.

The 10 finalists and their products are:

1. Afoundria (Chartpath), an all-in-one clinical charting and billing tool to help post-acute care providers save time and money
2. Aunt Bertha, an online, easily searchable database of free and reduced cost social programs providing food, housing, transportation and other resources that can be used by health care providers for patients in need
3. Decisio Health (Patient Dashboard), which provides clinical decision support for care teams right where they need it: at the bedside
4. ePatientFinder, which connects physicians to information about medical research trials that can give patients new treatment options and help doctors determine when patients qualify for trials
5. Humm, developer of a real-time platform that quickly collects patient feedback so that health care providers can act to win and retain patients, improve patient experience and maintain quality of care
6. Patient IO, a patient care coordination solution that can be integrated with virtually any health care software system, including electronic health records and population health management systems, empowering patients and clinicians
7. Rallyhood, an online tool for coordinating and communicating emotional, practical and financial support for patients throughout their care
8. Sotera Wireless (Visi Mobile), a mobile system that continuously monitors and reports patient vital signs at all times, even when they are not in their hospital beds
9. UnaliWear, a developer of a waterproof, voice controlled watch that gathers patient data in real time and transmits it 24/7 to live call centers in case immediate, necessary medical intervention is required, whether the patient initiates action or not AND without the need of a smartphone
10. VSee (Cloud Clinic), an all-in-one suite that includes patient scheduling, ePay, a private waiting queue, and visit notes so a physician can easily manage his or her online practice and improve patients’ experience.

With help of generous donors to a $50 million capital campaign already under way, Seton and its parent organization, Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and nonprofit healthcare system, are building the $310 million Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas. Working with UT’s Dell Medical School and Central Health, Travis County’s public health care district, Seton is developing a new system for integrating health care delivery locally. The goal is for Austin to become a new U.S. center for innovative medical research and treatment.

“Seton will be where collaborators come together to explore how to care for people in the best manner possible,” Kristi Henderson, Seton vice president of Virtual Care and Innovation, said. “But in order to succeed at the highest level, the partnership must engage with entrepreneurs to rethink health care and imagine a different – and far better – future.”
