Hays County Women’s Center to host annual auction

HCWC Annual Auction returns to celebrate Marla Johnson’s 28 Years as Executive Director

Staff Reports

The Hays County Women’s Center will be holding their 37th annual auction and honor Marla Johnson as she retires from 28 years as Executive Director. The auction will take place on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites, San Marcos Convention Center.

Last year HCWC provided services to 2,023 adults, youth and children who experienced assault and abuse even amid the pandemic. Not a single day of service was lost, and HCWC remained open and ready to provide shelter and emergency response to victims of abuse in Hays and Caldwell Counties. Now, more than ever, it is essential that HCWC be available to provide free, confidential, and life-changing services to victims of abuse and assault.

Marla Johnson at her first HCWC Auction as Executive Director in 1994.

The 37th Annual Auction will have a silent and live auction, dinner, raffles, games and items with a Central Texas flavor. The live auction will include an all-inclusive trip Jamaica, Christmas at Big Sky Montana, a getaway to a beautiful cabin in Vermont and a myriad of exclusive local experiences and treasures. HCWC is bringing back the popular Golden Ticket which offers an opportunity to choose any item from the Live Auction. Golden Tickets are $100 and only 100 will be sold. With over 150 items donated by community members including art, gift certificates, furniture, and novelties, there is sure to be something for everyone.

Auction tickets are $40 in advance with a very limited number of tickets available at the door for $50 to attend in person. This year we have an exciting opportunity for supporters to participate even if they are unable to attend in person. All of the silent auction items will be available for bid through the website www.bidpal.net/hcwcauction. Admission tickets are not required to bid on items or purchase THE GOLDEN TICKET, but a credit card must be registered with your account. All proceeds benefit local victims of abuse. We invite you to join us to help us honor the work and legacy of Marla Johnson and HCWC and be our partner in the effort to end abuse and assault in Hays and Caldwell counties.

HCWC would like to extend a special thank you to our Exclusive and Champion Level Sponsors: R.P.
