183 South Scheduled Road Construction, Closures, Detours For Week Of Feb. 12

Austin — Short and long term lane, road closures, and detours that may impact drivers along US 183 and adjacent roadways in east Austin.

Below is an overview of the 183 South project’s lane, road, and ramp closures. Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, sound wall work, utility work.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

The Mobility Authority is overseen by a seven-member Board of Directors. The Governor appoints the Chairman, and the Travis and Williamson counties Commissioners Courts each appoint three members to serve on the Board.

SOUTHBOUND US 183 REDUCED TO ONE LANE

MLK Blvd/FM 969 Exit

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL CLOSURES ARE WEATHER PERMITTING AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Austin, Texas — Beginning as early as the evening of Sunday, November 22, 2020*, and lasting approximately five months, the southbound US 183 non-tolled general-purpose lanes between Manor Road and Loyola Lane will be reduced to one lane. The closure is necessary to make concrete pavement repairs in the area.

To minimize the inconvenience to drivers during the closure, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority will be temporarily allowing southbound US 183 drivers to enter the 183 Toll Road at Manor Road and to use the MLK Blvd/FM 969 exit without paying a toll.

Normal tolls will be charged to drivers who continue south on the 183 Toll Road past the exit signed for MLK Blvd/FM 969.

Monday-Saturday (2/8-13) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 right general-purpose lane in both directions will be closed Manor Rd. to US 290

LANE CLOSURE — 02/10/21 to 02/13/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Wednesday-Friday (2/10-12) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound right general-purpose lane will be closed from Hergotz to Smith Rd.

RAMP CLOSURE — 02/12/21 to 02/14/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Friday (2/12) 8 p.m. until Sunday (2/14) 3 p.m., SH 71 westbound exit ramp to E. Riverside Dr. will be closed. Detour Montopolis Dr. U-turn to eastbound SH 71 general-purpose.

Friday (2/12) 8 p.m. until Sunday (2/14) 3 p.m., US 183 southbound mainlane will be closed at SH71. Detour E. Riverside Dr. U-turn to SH71 eastbound to US 183

LANE CLOSURE — 02/15/21 to 02/20/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Monday-Saturday (2/15-20) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 in both directions the right main lane will be closed from US 290 to Manor Rd.

Wednesday-Thursday (2/17-18) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 southbound right general-purpose lane will be closed from Thurgood Ave. to Eastgate

ROAD CLOSURE — 02/17/21 to 02/19/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Wednesday-Thursday (2/17-18) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Eastbound Cesar Chavez to southbound US 183 will be closed. Detour via Shady to Levander Loop to Airport Blvd. to 183.

ROAD CLOSURE — 02/17/21 to 02/19/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Wednesday-Thursday (2/17-18) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Eastbound 7th St. to US 183 southbound will be closed. Detour via Shady to Levander Loop to Airport Blvd. to 183.

LANE CLOSURE — 02/18/21 to 02/19/21 — PAVING
Thursday-Friday (2/18-19) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 northbound left by-pass lane will be closed at MLK Blvd.

ROAD CLOSURE — 02/18/21 to 02/21/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Thursday-Saturday (2/18-20) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., southbound Airport Blvd. ramp to US 183 southbound will be closed. Detour via Levander Loop to 7th Street.

RAMP CLOSURE — 02/18/21 to 02/20/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Thursday-Friday (2/18-19) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 Toll northbound exit ramp at Smith Rd. will be closed. Detour via Thompson exit ramp.

LANE CLOSURE — 02/18/21 to 02/21/21 — PAVING
Thursday (2/18) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Fri (2/19) 8 p.m. until Sun (2/21) 3 p.m., US 183 southbound general-purpose lanes will be closed from MLK Blvd. to Techni Center Dr. Detour via MLK Blvd. to Tannehill Ln. to Techni Center. North to south U-turn will be closed at MLK Blvd.

RAMP CLOSURE — 02/20/21 to 02/23/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Saturday (2/20) 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday (2/22) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound to SH 71 eastbound direct connect will be closed. Detour via E. Riverside Dr. U-turn.
