Austin — Short and long term lane, road closures, and detours that may impact drivers along US 183 and adjacent roadways in east Austin.

Below is an overview of the 183 South project’s lane, road, and ramp closures. Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, sound wall work, utility work.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

The Mobility Authority is overseen by a seven-member Board of Directors. The Governor appoints the Chairman, and the Travis and Williamson counties Commissioners Courts each appoint three members to serve on the Board.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL CLOSURES ARE WEATHER PERMITTING AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Austin, Texas — Beginning as early as the evening of Sunday, November 22, 2020*, and lasting approximately five months, the southbound US 183 non-tolled general-purpose lanes between Manor Road and Loyola Lane will be reduced to one lane. The closure is necessary to make concrete pavement repairs in the area.

To minimize the inconvenience to drivers during the closure, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority will be temporarily allowing southbound US 183 drivers to enter the 183 Toll Road at Manor Road and to use the MLK Blvd/FM 969 exit without paying a toll.

Normal tolls will be charged to drivers who continue south on the 183 Toll Road past the exit signed for MLK Blvd/FM 969.

Tuesday (12/29) and Sunday-Tuesday (1/3-5) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound mainlanes at Hudson St. and the on-ramp at Smith Rd. will be closed. Detour via US 183 general-purpose to on-ramp at Interchange Blvd.

• RAMP CLOSURE — 01/03/21 to 01/10/21 — ROADWAY BASE INSTALLATION
Sunday (1/3/21) 6 p.m. through Sunday (1/10/21) 6 a.m., US 183 northbound to SH 71 westbound cloverleaf will be closed. Detour via SH 71 eastbound to Spirit of Texas Dr. U-turn.

• LANE CLOSURE — 01/03/21 to 01/05/21 — ROADWAY BASE INSTALLATION
Sunday (1/3) 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 north-to-south U-turn at MLK Blvd will be closed. Detour through signalized intersection at MLK Blvd. Monday (1/4) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 north-to-south U-turn at MLK Blvd will be closed. Detour through signalized intersection at MLK Blvd.

Sunday-Tuesday (1/3-1/5) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound bypass closed at MLK Blvd. Detour through signalized intersection at MLK Blvd.

Monday–Tuesday (1/4-1/5) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 northbound bypass right lane closed at MLK Blvd. US 183 northbound left general-purpose lane closed between Marcel Gres and 51st Street.

Wednesday–Friday (1/6-1/8) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound left general-purpose lane between Harold Court and Techni Center Drive and 183 Toll entry ramp at Central Avenue will be closed. Detour via MLK bypass and entry ramp under MLK Blvd.

• LANE CLOSURE — 01/06/21 to 01/07/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Wednesday (1/6) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound mainlanes closed at Hudson Street. US 183 southbound left general-purpose lane closed between Vargas and Patton. All traffic use southbound general-purpose lanes.
