Austin — Short and long-term lane, road closures, and detours that may impact drivers along US 183 and adjacent roadways in east Austin.

Below is an overview of the 183 South project’s lane, road, and ramp closures. Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, sound wall work, utility work.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

The Mobility Authority is overseen by a seven-member Board of Directors. The Governor appoints the Chairman, and the Travis and Williamson counties Commissioners Courts each appoint three members to serve on the Board.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL CLOSURES ARE WEATHER PERMITTING AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Austin, Texas — Beginning as early as the evening of Sunday, November 22, 2020*, and lasting approximately five months, the southbound US 183 non-tolled general-purpose lanes between Manor Road and Loyola Lane will be reduced to one lane. The closure is necessary to make concrete pavement repairs in the area.

To minimize the inconvenience to drivers during the closure, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority will be temporarily allowing southbound US 183 drivers to enter the 183 Toll Road at Manor Road and to use the MLK Blvd/FM 969 exit without paying a toll.

Normal tolls will be charged to drivers who continue south on the 183 Toll Road past the exit signed for MLK Blvd/FM 969.

Sunday (2/28) 6 PM to 6 AM, Monday-Wednesday (3/1-3/3/) 8 PM to 6 AM, US 183 northbound right main lane will be closed from Hergotz to Smith Rd.

Monday-Friday (3/1-3/5) 9 AM to 3 PM, US 183 right main lane in both directions will be closed from Purple Sage Dr. to 51st St.

Monday-Thursday (3/1-3/4) 8 PM to 6 AM, the westbound US 290 direct connector to southbound US 183 will be closed. Detour to the Berkman Exit and use the next U-turn to access SB US 183.

Monday-Thursday (3/1-3/4) 8 PM to 6 AM, southbound US 183 mainlanes will be reduced to one lane between US 290 and Manor/Springdale Road.

Monday-Thursday (3/1-3/4) 8 PM to 6 AM, US 183 southbound exit to Loyola will be closed at Manor Rd. Detour via MLK Blvd. U-turn for Loyola.

Tuesday-Friday (3/2-3/5) 8 PM to 6 AM, Eastbound Cesar Chavez ramp to southbound SH 183 will be closed. Detour via Shady to Levander Loop to Airport Blvd. to 183.

• RAMP CLOSURE — 03/02/21 to 03/06/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Tuesday-Friday (3/2-3/5) 8 PM to 6 AM, the eastbound 7th Street ramp to southbound US 183 will be closed.

• LANE CLOSURE — 03/04/21 to 03/04/21 — ROADWAY STRIPING
Thursday (3/4) 8 PM to 11:30 PM, the southbound US 183 bypass around MLK Jr. Blvd will be closed.

• RAMP CLOSURE — 03/04/21 to 03/06/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Thursday-Friday (3/4-3/5) 8 PM to 6 AM, the northbound 183 Toll exit ramp to Techni Center Dr will be closed. Exit early at Montopolis Drive and utilize the general-purpose lanes to reach your destination.

• ROAD CLOSURE — 03/04/21 to 03/05/21 — ROADWAY STRIPING
Thursday (3/4) 11:30 PM to 6 AM, southbound US 183 general-purpose lanes will be closed between MLK Jr. Blvd. and Techni Center Dr. Detour to westbound MLK to southbound Tannehill Ln. to eastbound Techni Center Dr. to continue south. The north-to-south U-turn at MLK will also be closed.

Friday (3/5) 8 PM until Sunday (3/7) 3 PM, US 183 northbound left bypass lane at MLK Blvd.

• ROAD CLOSURE — 03/05/21 to 03/07/21 — ROADWAY STRIPING
Friday (3/5) 8 PM until Sunday (3/7) 3 PM, US 183 southbound bypass closed at MLK Blvd. Traffic to travel through signalized intersection at MLK Blvd.
