183 South scheduled road construction, closures, detours for week of March 15

Austin — Short and long-term lane, road closures, and detours that may impact drivers along US 183 and adjacent roadways in east Austin.

Below is an overview of the 183 South project’s lane, road, and ramp closures. Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, sound wall work, utility work.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

The Mobility Authority is overseen by a seven-member Board of Directors. The Governor appoints the Chairman, and the Travis and Williamson counties Commissioners Courts each appoint three members to serve on the Board.

 

 

US 183 Short & Long Term Closures & Detours

Short Term

 LANE CLOSURE — 3/8/21 to 3/26/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Monday (3/8) 6 a.m. until Friday (3/26) 3 p.m., US 183 northbound left mainlane will be closed from MLK Blvd. to Manor Rd.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/8/21 to 3/13/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Monday-Saturday (3/8-3/13) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 general-purpose right lane in both directions will be closed from US 290 to Manor Rd.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/8/21 to 3/13/21 — PAVING
Monday-Thursday (3/8-3/11) 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., Friday (3/12) 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., southbound US 183 entry ramp at Manor Road will be closed.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/8/21 to 3/14/21 — PAVING
Monday-Thursday (3/8-3/11) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Fri (3/12) 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., Sat (3/13) 6 p.m. to 8 a.m., southbound US 183 mainlanes will be reduced to one lane between US 290 and Manor/Springdale Road.

RAMP CLOSURE — 3/8/21 to 3/14/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Friday-Saturday (3/12-3/13) 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., US 183 southbound exit to Loyola will be closed at Manor Rd. Detour via MLK Blvd. U-turn for Loyola.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/10/21 to 3/16/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Sunday (3/14) 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday (3/15) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound right mainlane will be closed from Thompson to Hergotz.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/10/21 to 3/14/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Saturday (3/13) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound mainlane will be reduced to one lane from Interchange Blvd. to Bolm Rd.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/10/21 to 3/13/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Friday (3/12) 8 p.m. until Saturday (3/13) 2 p.m., US 183 southbound left general-purpose will be closed from MLK Blvd. to Marcel Gres.

ROAD CLOSURE — 3/12/21 to 3/14/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Friday (3/12) 8 p.m. until Sunday (3/14) 3 p.m., Southbound bypass at MLK Blvd. will be closed. Traffic to travel through signalized intersection at MLK Blvd.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/12/21 to 3/14/21 — PAVING
Friday (3/12) 8 p.m. until Sunday (3/14) 5 p.m., US 183 southbound general-purpose will be reduced to one lane from Montopolis to Vargas Rd.

RAMP CLOSURE — 3/14/21 to 3/16/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Sunday-Monday (3/14-3/15) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound exit to Airport Blvd./Cesar Chavez will be closed at Montopolis Dr. Detour 183 non-tolled exit at Thompson.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/14/21 to 3/16/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Sunday (3/14) 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday (3/15) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound left mainlane will be closed from Montopolis to Vargas.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/15/21 to 3/16/21 — PAVING
Monday-Tuesday (3/15-3/16) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 southbound right general-purpose lane from Dubuque to Purple Sage and eastbound right turn lane at Manor Road will be closed at US 183.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/15/21 to 3/16/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Monday-Tuesday (3/15-3/16) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 southbound right mainlane will be closed from Purple Sage to 51st St.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/15/21 to 3/19/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Monday-Friday (3/15-3/19) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 right mainlane in both directions will be closed between Loyola and Manor Rd.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/15/21 to 3/17/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Monday-Wednesday (3/15-3/17) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., SH 71 westbound right mainlane will be closed from US 183 to E. Riverside Dr.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/15/21 to 3/20/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Monday-Friday (3/15-3/19) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound mainlane will be reduced to one lane from Loyola to Techni Center and 183 on-ramps at MLK will be closed. Detour via on-ramp at Smith Rd.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/15/21 to 3/19/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Monday-Friday (3/15-3/19) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 northbound right general-purpose lane will be closed from Loyola to Manor Rd.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/15/21 to 3/20/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Monday-Friday (3/15-3/19) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound left mainlane from Patton to Vargas and southbound right mainlane Vargas to Patton will be closed.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/16/21 to 3/17/21 — GUARDRAIL WORK
Tuesday-Wednesday (3/16-3/17) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 southbound left general-purpose lane from Manor Rd. to Purple Sage and the north to south U-turn at Manor Rd. will be closed.

LANE CLOSURE — 3/18/21 to 3/20/21 — DRAINAGE WORK
Thursday-Friday (3/18-3/19) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound exit ramp left lane will be closed at Thompson Lane.

Long Term

 

 RAMP CLOSURE — 1/24/21 to 03/13/21 — ROADWAY BASE INSTALLATION
Sunday (1/24) at 3 PM until Saturday (1/13) at 6 PM SH 71 eastbound to US 183 northbound cloverleaf will be closed to SH71 eastbound mainlane traffic. Detour via Spirit of Texas Dr.

 RAMP CLOSURE — 1/24/21 to 03/31/21 — PAVING
Wednesday (2/24) at 8 PM to Wednesday (3/31) at 6 PM, the eastbound SH 71 ramp to southbound US 183 will be closed. Detour: – Continue past US 183 on eastbound SH 71 – Exit towards Spirit of Texas and use the eastbound-to-westbound U-turn to connect to westbound SH 71 – Use the exit to northbound US 183 – Take the Last Free Exit towards Montopolis Drive – Use the northbound-to-southbound U-turn at Montopolis Drive – Use the left entrance ramp to continue on southbound US 183.
