Austin — Short and long-term lane, road closures, and detours that may impact drivers along US 183 and adjacent roadways in east Austin.
Below is an overview of the 183 South project’s lane, road, and ramp closures. Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, sound wall work, utility work.
The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.
The Mobility Authority is overseen by a seven-member Board of Directors. The Governor appoints the Chairman, and the Travis and Williamson counties Commissioners Courts each appoint three members to serve on the Board.

Short Term
Monday (3/8) 6 a.m. until Friday (3/26) 3 p.m., US 183 northbound left mainlane will be closed from MLK Blvd. to Manor Rd.
Friday (3/15) 8 p.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday (3/20) 6 p.m. to 10 a.m., US 183 southbound mainlane will be reduced to one lane from Loyola to Techni Center and 183 on-ramp at MLK will be closed. Detour via on-ramp at Smith Rd.
Monday-Friday (3/15-3/19) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound left mainlane from Patton to Vargas and southbound right mainlane Vargas to Patton will be closed.
Friday (3/19) 8 p.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday (3/20) 6 p.m. to 10 a.m., southbound US 183 mainlanes will be reduced to one lane between US 290 and Manor/Springdale Road.
Thursday (3/18) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and Friday (3/19) 8 p.m. until Sunday (3/21) 5 p.m., US 183 southbound two general-purpose lanes will be closed from Loyola to 51st St.
Friday (3/19) 8 p.m. until Sunday (3/21) 5 p.m., US 183 northbound right general-purpose lane will be closed from Interchange Blvd. to Bolm.
Sunday-Friday (3/21-3/26) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound right mainlane will be closed from Montopolis Dr. to SH 71.
Sunday-Friday (3/21-3/26) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound exit ramp left lane will be closed at Thompson Lane and right mainlane will be closed from SH 71 to Montopolis Dr.
Monday-Friday (3/22-3/26) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 northbound right general-purpose lane will be closed from Loyola to Manor Rd.
Monday-Friday (3/22-3/26) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 southbound right mainlane will be closed from Manor Rd. to Loyola.
Monday-Wednesday (3/22-3/24) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 southbound left general-purpose lane will be closed from Smith Rd. to Bolm.
Monday-Thursday (3/22-3/25) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday (3/26) 8 p.m. to 10 a.m., US 183 southbound mainlane will be reduced to one lane Loyola to Techni Center and on-ramp will be closed at MLK Blvd.
Monday-Tuesday (3/22-3/23) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., North to South U-turn at MLK Blvd. will be closed.
Tuesday (3/23) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 northbound right mainlane will be closed from Loyola to Purple Sage.
Tuesday (3/23) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 northbound right mainlane will be closed from Montopolis Dr. to Bolm.

Long Term
Sunday (1/24) at 3 PM until Saturday (1/13) at 6 PM SH 71 eastbound to US 183 northbound cloverleaf will be closed to SH71 eastbound mainlane traffic. Detour via Spirit of Texas Dr.
Wednesday (2/24) at 8 PM to Wednesday (3/31) at 6 PM, the eastbound SH 71 ramp to southbound US 183 will be closed. Detour: – Continue past US 183 on eastbound SH 71 – Exit towards Spirit of Texas and use the eastbound-to-westbound U-turn to connect to westbound SH 71 – Use the exit to northbound US 183 – Take the Last Free Exit towards Montopolis Drive – Use the northbound-to-southbound U-turn at Montopolis Drive – Use the left entrance ramp to continue on southbound US 183.
