Austin — Short and long-term lane, road closures, and detours that may impact drivers along US 183 and adjacent roadways in east Austin.
Below is an overview of the 183 South project’s lane, road, and ramp closures. Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, sound wall work, utility work.
The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.
The Mobility Authority is overseen by a seven-member Board of Directors. The Governor appoints the Chairman, and the Travis and Williamson counties Commissioners Courts each appoint three members to serve on the Board.

Short Term
Sunday-Friday (3/21-3/26) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound right mainlane will be closed from Montopolis Dr. to SH 71.
Sunday-Friday (3/21-3/26) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound exit ramp left lane will be closed at Thompson Lane and right mainlane will be closed from SH 71 to Montopolis Dr.
Saturday (3/27) 6 p.m. to 10 a.m., Sunday (3/28) 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound mainlane will be reduced to one lane Manor Springdale to Techni Center and on-ramp will be closed at MLK Blvd.
Wednesday-Friday (3/24-3/26) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound mainlane will be reduced to one lane from Loyola to Manor Rd.
Thursday-Friday (3/25-3/26) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., the southbound US 183 exit ramp to eastbound SH 71 towards the Austin Airport will be closed. Detour to westbound SH 71 and U-turn at Riverside Dr.
Thursday-Friday (3/25-3/26) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound general-purpose will be reduced to one lane from MLK Blvd. to Manor Rd.
Thursday-Friday (3/25-3/26) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound mainlane from Montopolis Dr. to SH 71 and southbound on-ramp at Vargas Rd will be reduced to one lane.
Friday (3/26) 8 p.m. until Sunday (3/28) 5 p.m., Manor Springdale westbound right lane at US 183 and US 183 southbound right general-purpose from Dubuque to Manor Rd. will be closed.
Friday (3/26) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., southbound US 183 to westbound SH 71 Toll ramp will be closed at SH 71.
Fri (3/26) 8 p.m.-10 a.m., Sat (3/27) 6 p.m.-10 a.m., Sun (3/28) 6 p.m.-6 a.m., Mon-Wed (3/29-31) 8 p.m.-6 a.m., US 183 southbound mainlane reduced to one lane 51st to Montopolis and the off-ramp at Montopolis Dr. will be closed.
Saturday (3/27) 3 a.m.-10 a.m., SH 71 westbound mainlane two lanes will be closed from Brandt Dr. to US 183.
Saturday (3/27) 6 p.m.-6 a.m., US 183 northbound general-purpose will be reduced to one lane from MLK Blvd. to Manor Rd.
Saturday (3/27) 6 p.m.-6 a.m., US 183 northbound general-purpose will be reduced to one lane from Thompson to Montopolis.
Sunday (3/28) 12 a.m.-6 a.m., US 183 southbound general-purpose will be reduced to one lane from Loyola to MLK Blvd.
Sunday (3/28) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., South to North U-turn at Levander Loop will be closed. Detour via Airport Blvd to US 183 southbound to Montopolis Dr. U-turn to US 183 northbound.
Monday-Tuesday (3/29-3/30) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 southbound to SH 71 eastbound left lane will be closed at SH 71.
Monday-Wednesday (3/29-3/31) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 southbound left general-purpose lane will be closed from Smith to Bolm Rd.
Monday-Wednesday (3/29-3/31) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 northbound left mainlane will be closed from Patton to Thompson.
Monday-Wednesday (3/29-3/31) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 northbound right general purpose lane will be closed from Loyola to Manor Springdale Rd.
Monday (3/29) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound general-purpose will be reduced to one lane at Montopolis Dr.
Monday-Tuesday (3/29-3/30) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Manor Springdale in both directions will be reduced to one lane at US 183.
Monday-Tuesday (3/29-3/30) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Dubuque will be closed at US 183. Detour via Manor Springdale to Susquehanna Ln.
Monday-Tuesday (3/29-3/30) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Purple Sage will be closed at US 183.
Monday-Tuesday (3/29-3/30) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound general-purpose will be reduced to one lane from Manor Rd. to Purple Sage.
Tuesday (3/30) 9 a.m. until Thursday (4/8) 3 p.m., US 183 southbound on-ramp right lane at Vargas will be closed.
Tuesday (3/30) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound mainlane will be reduced to one lane in both directions from Smith to Hudson.
Tuesday-Wednesday (3/30-3/31) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Loyola in both directions will be reduced to one lane at US 183.
Tuesday-Wednesday (3/30-3/31) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., 51st St. in both directions will be closed at US 183. Detour via MLK Blvd. to Springdale Rd. to 51st.
Tuesday-Wednesday (3/30-3/31) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., MLK Blvd. in both directions will be reduced to one lane at US 183.
Tuesday-Wednesday (3/30-3/31) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound two right general-purpose lanes will be closed from 51st St. to MLK Blvd.
Tuesday-Wednesday (3/30-3/31) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 southbound general-purpose lanes will be reduced to one lane from Loyola to 51st St.
Monday (4/5) 8 a.m. until Sunday (4/11) 6 p.m., Techni Center eastbound will be closed. Detour via Central Ave.
Friday (4/9) 8 p.m. until Sunday (4/11) 5 p.m., US 183 northbound mainlane right two lanes will be closed from Thompson to Montopolis Dr.
Friday (4/9) 8 p.m. until Sunday (4/11) 5 p.m., Manor Springdale left lane in both directions at US 183 and general-purpose center lane will be closed from Dubuque to Manor Rd.

Long Term
Sunday (1/24) at 3 p.m. until Sunday (3/28) at 6 p.m. SH 71 eastbound to US 183 northbound cloverleaf will be closed to SH71 eastbound mainlane traffic. Detour via Spirit of Texas Dr.
Wednesday (2/24) at 8 p.m. to Wednesday (3/31) at 6 p.m., the eastbound SH 71 ramp to southbound US 183 will be closed. Detour: – Continue past US 183 on eastbound SH 71 – Exit towards Spirit of Texas and use the eastbound-to-westbound U-turn to connect to westbound SH 71 – Use the exit to northbound US 183 – Take the Last Free Exit towards Montopolis Drive – Use the northbound-to-southbound U-turn at Montopolis Drive – Use the left entrance ramp to continue on southbound US 183.
