Austin — Short and long term lane, road closures, and detours that may impact drivers along US 183 and adjacent roadways in east Austin.

Below is an overview of the 183 South project’s lane, road, and ramp closures. Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, sound wall work, utility work.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

The Mobility Authority is overseen by a seven-member Board of Directors. The Governor appoints the Chairman, and the Travis and Williamson counties Commissioners Courts each appoint three members to serve on the Board.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL CLOSURES ARE WEATHER PERMITTING AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Austin, Texas — Beginning as early as the evening of Sunday, November 22, 2020*, and lasting approximately five months, the southbound US 183 non-tolled general-purpose lanes between Manor Road and Loyola Lane will be reduced to one lane. The closure is necessary to make concrete pavement repairs in the area.

To minimize the inconvenience to drivers during the closure, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority will be temporarily allowing southbound US 183 drivers to enter the 183 Toll Road at Manor Road and to use the MLK Blvd/FM 969 exit without paying a toll.

Normal tolls will be charged to drivers who continue south on the 183 Toll Road past the exit signed for MLK Blvd/FM 969.

Short Term

• LANE CLOSURE — 11/21/20 to 12/3/20 — SHARED USE PATH
Sat (11/21) 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., Mon-Wed (11/23-25) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mon-Thurs (11/30-12/3) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., MLK Blvd. westbound right turn lane at US 183 will be closed.

• LANE CLOSURE — 11/30/20 to 12/2/20 — DRAINAGE WORK
Monday-Wednesday (11/30-12/2) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., US 183 southbound right general-purpose lane will be closed from Loyola Lane to 51st Street.

• LANE CLOSURE — 11/30/20 to 12/1/20 — LANDSCAPING
Monday (11/30) 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., MLK Blvd. westbound left lane will be closed at US 183.

• RAMP CLOSURE — 12/1/20 to 12/3/20 — PAVING
Tuesday-Wednesday (12/1-2) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., US 183 northbound exit ramp at Thompson Lane will be closed. Montopolis traffic detour via Airport Blvd. exit, U-turn at Levander Loop to southbound Airport Blvd ramp to US 183. US 183 northbound general-purpose at Thompson will be closed. Detour via eastbound Thompson to Hergotz to US 183 northbound general-purpose.

• RAMP CLOSURE — 12/3/20 to 12/4/20 — PAVING
Thursday (12/3) 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., SH 71 eastbound to US 183 southbound ramp will be closed. Detour via US 183 northbound ramp to Montopolis exit ramp and U-turn at Montopolis Dr. to access southbound US 183.
