Bobcat Baseball Season Tickets Now Available
HOUSTON – The schedule has been announced for the 19th annual Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic that will be played in Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, and taking place Mar. 1-3. The Texas State baseball team will play at 11 a.m. each day with games against Baylor, Houston and Rice.
First up for the Bobcats will be Rice on Friday, Mar. 1. Last season saw TXST split the two meetings with the Owls with a 6-2 victory in Houston and dropping an 8-6 contest at Bobcat Stadium.
On Saturday, the Bobcats takes on Houston for the first time since 2015. That meeting saw TXST upset the third-ranked Cougars 7-6 in San Marcos.
Texas State closes out the Classic against Baylor. The Bobcats and Bears split last season’s meetings with the road team winning both time that saw TXST win 6-1 in Waco. It will be the 75th meeting all-time between the programs.
Also competing in the Shriners Classic is Texas A&M and TCU in the nine-game tournament. It will be the first time ever that TXST will play in the event.
This year marks the fourth straight that the tournament will carry the name of the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic, which was set forth by a multi-year naming rights agreement between the Astros Foundation and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The Astros Foundation will continue to operate the tournament and will donate $1 from the sale of each ticket directly to Shriners Hospitals as well as provide other fundraising and awareness opportunities.
