2022 Bobcat Soccer scheduled announced

Staff Reports

SAN MARCOS – The 2022 Texas State soccer schedule was announced by first-year head coach Steve Holeman on Monday. The slate features 18 matches with 11 taking place at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

“We have a very challenging non-conference schedule that will certainly prepare us for the rigors of the Sun Belt. It was already one of the top women’s soccer conferences in the country and it just got a lot better with the addition of the new programs,” said Holeman. “Our overall schedule is extremely competitive and we’re looking forward to getting underway.”

Prior to the start of the regular season, the Bobcats will play two exhibition matches. The first will take place Aug. 7 at I-35 rival UTSA. The team will then make a trip up to Dallas for a contest against Oklahoma.

The opening weekend of the regular season kicks off with two home matches against St. Mary’s (Aug. 18) and Incarnate Word (Aug. 21). After a trip to take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Aug. 25), TXST closes out the month by hosting Houston Baptist (Aug. 28).

The first day of September sees the Bobcats host Kansas City for the first-ever meeting between the teams. Non-conference play concludes with three opponents that played in a NCAA Tournament over the last two years beginning with a trip to North Texas (Sept. 4). The next weekend sees matches in San Marcos against Rice and the reigning Big XII champions TCU.

Sun Belt Conference play in the new-look league starts off with Arkansas State coming to town on Sept. 18. Following a road match at Georgia Southern, TXST returns home to battle ULM in the team’s final match of the month.

First up on the schedule in October will be contests against two of the new Sun Belt members. A trip to Southern Miss takes place on the second while the Bobcats host James Madison four days later. Next up on Oct. 9 is a drive to the Pelican State to take on Louisiana.

After taking on Troy (Oct. 16) on the road, Texas State welcomes defending Sun Belt champion South Alabama (Oct. 20) to town. The last road trip of the season takes the Bobcats to Marshall (Oct. 23). The regular season concludes on Oct. 27 when App State comes to San Marcos.

The Sun Belt Tournament is scheduled to take place Oct. 31 – Nov. 6 in Foley, Alabama at the Foley Sports Complex.
