In light of the ongoing disaster recovery from Hurricane Harvey, the Co-op members have decided to donate all proceeds from patch sales to Harvey relief efforts.
San Marcos, TX — Mermaid Week, the explosion of activity focused on our love for the San Marcos River, is tapering off, but Downtown Association members and Third Thursday participants are happy to extend it for just a few more days.
218 Co-op gallery will be open with new work as well as one-of-a-kind mermaid, octopus, and sweet sea dragon patches available and 218 Artist/Owner Carol Schwartz will be on hand with her trusty sewing machine to help folks add their patches to whatever garment they bring along.
In light of the ongoing disaster recovery from Hurricane Harvey, the Co-op members have decided to donate all proceeds from patch sales to Harvey relief efforts. Have a boring old t-shirt? Bring it to the gallery on the 21st, pick the perfect patch and take home something completely unique—all while helping some folks along the Texas coast. Sew cool!
As always, the Co-op Galley will be serving up some delicious snacks. This month they will even be mer-themed. There’s also a rumor floating around about a very unusual showing of the movie Yakona. If you haven’t seen this favorite local flick yet, it’s a must-see in this venue.
218 Artist/Owner Karen Cross says about Third Thursday events, “I love the atmosphere downtown during Third Thursdays. It reminds me of younger days where everyone came downtown for everything they needed.”
The twelve Artist/Owners of 218 Gallery are working hard to fill the space with great art, lively events, and convivial community. The gallery is at 218 N. Guadalupe and regular hours are Thursday & Friday from 3 to 7, Saturdays from 11 to 7 and Sundays 11 to 3. The gallery can also be made available for private shopping engagements.
