Holiday revelers and shoppers alike will find something to enjoy during this week’s Downtown Walkabout at the Price Center.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take in a concert featuring the rockin’ good sounds of the Elftones as they put their special spin on some classic Christmas favorites.

A number of local artists plan to have unique and affordable gifts at an indoor Pop-Up Market in the Tea Room, and the Center will be serving light refreshments including holiday wassail, wine and sweet treats. Festivities are free, open to all, and will run from 6 – 9 p.m.

It’s truly a rare live performance and not to be missed.  The Elftones’ Concert is truly a rare live, local and popular performance so don’t miss it.

The performance will be 7-9 p.m. in the historic 1910 Room. During Intermission (around 7:45) everyone is invited to join in an old-fashion sing-a-long of some traditional and some not-so-traditional Christmas season songs. A $5 donation is requested.

In addition, an amazing array of Christmas decorations, including three large, lighted trees, unusual reindeer centerpieces, garlands and a vintage reindeer collection in the Tea Room. Another collection of more than 50 snowmen is on display in the Main Parlor.

The “Holiday Traditions from Around the World” art show continues to hang throughout the Center. The unusual show showcases more than 60 pieces of art from more than 2 dozen local artists that tell an interesting tale of holiday traditions – some familiar, some not.

Viewers will take in paintings, photographs, illustrations, textiles, batiks, assemblage and ceramics. Many of the works on display are available for purchase and a portion of proceeds benefit the Price Center, a non-profit community center operated by the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association.

More new art is also on display in the new permanent SMCISD Visual Arts K-12 rotating show that hangs in the historic 1893 Room.

For more information about Price Center Walkabout activities, or to submit art to be considered for a future exhibit, please stop by the Price Center, at 222 W. San Antonio St. in Downtown San Marcos, Mon. – Fri., 9-5 p.m., call 512-392-2900 or visit price-center.org.
