3rd Thurs Downtown Walkabout To Feature Holiday Art, Live Music, Dinner

More than 50 original creations by 17 local artists tell an interesting tale of holiday traditions – some familiar, some not — through paintings, photographs, illustrations, textiles, assemblage, and ceramics.

San Marcos, TX – The November Third Thursday Downtown Walkabout activities at the Price Center will feature the opening of a new, non-traditional holiday art show, live music, and special dinner service from 5-9 p.m.

More than 50 original creations by 17 local artists tell an interesting tale of holiday traditions – some familiar, some not — through paintings, photographs, illustrations, textiles, assemblage, and ceramics. Walkabouts can enjoy additional local art via the new permanent SMCISD Visual Arts K-12 rotating show and new works in the Center’s heritage arts displays of quilts and painted porcelain.

The “Holiday Traditions from Around the World” Artists’ reception will take place from 6-8 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and engage in conversation with many of the artists behind the newest show. Light, complimentary refreshments will be served.

Many of the works on display are available for purchase. A portion of proceeds benefit the Price Center, a non-profit community center operated by the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association.

Live music will be provided by Yarrington Road, a father son duo that performs a variety of different styles, including Irish Fiddle tunes, classic country, and blues favorites.  Mihai Lowe is 17 and plays violin, guitar, and sings.  Joshua Lowe is a music educator and performs with his son singing, playing guitar, and bass.

Special Dinner service will be provided in the Tea Room from 5-9 p.m. Featured entrees include Grilled Salmon, Shrimp Creole, Moussaka, and Chicken Wellington along with your choice of salad and dessert.
