SAN MARCOS, TX – A new Call for Art focusing on the theme of passages with a focus on moving forward in the new year is now underway for a new Gallery Show coming to the Price Center.
The Center’s Arts Committee invites all area artists to consider submitting up to two works on Mon., Nov. 30 or Tues., Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Works in this all ages, all media show must be family-friendly and ready to hang. (3-D works also encouraged.) A $10 application fee is due at the time of submission and 20% of any artwork sales go to assist with operating the non-profit community center.
“Passages: Moving Forward in 2021” will hang in the newly remodeled gallery and venue spaces of the Center from Dec. 5 – January 22. The show will be one of three art installations available to view before the end of the year.
Local Photographer Christopher Paul Cardoza will be featured in a solo show titled: “A Changing Time” in the 1910 Room throughout December, and a new public collaborative art installation titled “Make a Joyful Noise” will be on display in the Center’s Garden Room during the same time frame.
The Arts Committee will oversee the project, which will be a paper crazy quilt. Interested participants can pick up a free supply kit to assemble, embellish, and return for the unique paper quilt that will be assembled and on display at the Center in December.
Kits will be available to pick up and/or assemblage at the Nov. 14 and Nov. 28 San Mercado events at the Center.
“We look forward to each new year with anticipation of the potential promise it holds,” said Joan Nagel, Arts Committee Chair. “We’re equally excited to see what the gallery shows, and quilt project mean to our local arts communities.”
Community Art Shows are conducted by the Price Center Art Committee and funded in part through a grant from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
