By, Terra Rivers, Managing Editor

San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District is making strides to engage its students in learning every day.

San Marcos CISD has nearly 8,000 students enrolled between its high school, two middle schools and six elementary schools according to the district’s website.

San Marcos CISD welcomed students, teachers and parents for the 2019-2020 school year on Monday, August 26.

San Marcos High School seniors gathered Monday morning to watch the sunrise and grab a class photo in celebration of their last First Day at SMCISD.

On Tuesday, the San Marcos HS volleyball team took care of business inside the Snake Pit! The Lady Rattlers swept the Lehman Lady Lobos in three straight sets.

San Marcos HS Biology students learned all about lab safety through a QR Code Scavenger Hunt! After scanning each of the 12 QR codes, the students were able to learn about different science lab practices through interactive videos.

Travis Elementary utilized their new makerspace learning area to encourage literacy, while also incorporating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities.
