An in-depth look into COVID case counts & stats for week of August 6

EDITORIAL NOTE
According to the CDC, the State of Texas and Hays County Public Health all give the same disclaimer on all current counts and totals. “The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a very fluid situation, and it will continue to be. All case numbers and totals are subject to change. As new information becomes available, we will publish those updates.”

Hays County Courthouse, TX – On Friday, Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one (1) COVID-related fatality, a Buda man in his 60s.

The department also reports 144 new lab-confirmed cases along with six (6) new hospitalizations and six (6) new hospital discharges. There are 54 additional persons considered recovered. The total number of persons considered recovered is 19,507.

The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 21,547. Hays County has 1,763 active cases.

In the past 21 days, there have been 2,089 active cases. Hays County has had 1,025 total COVID-related hospitalizations and 44 people are currently hospitalized.

NOTE: During a weekly routine data audit the HCLHD removed nine (9) cases due to out of county or duplicates.

Upcoming ‘no appointment needed’ vaccine clinics

  • August 6, 7 and 8 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Pfizer vaccine @ 3943 I-35 San Marcos Premium Outlets (Previously Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th); next to James Avery; across the parking lot from Victoria’s Secret.
  • Monday-Friday, Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines @ Live Oak Community Clinic, 401 Broadway, San Marcos, 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Monday-Friday, Walk-in Pfizer vaccine @ CommuniCare, 2810 Dacy Ln., Kyle, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m.
