San Marcos, Texas – The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP), the regional economic development organization for Hays and Caldwell counties, will host the 2019 Greater San Marcos Innovation Summit luncheon on September 18th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Embassy Suites City of San Marcos Hotel and Conference Center (1001 E. McCarty Lane, San Marcos, TX 78666).
The event will highlight the innovation taking place at Texas State University and across the two-county region in the heart of the Texas Innovation Corridor.
The event program includes a presentation on the State of Texas State University by Dr. Denise Trauth, President of Texas State University.
The keynote address will be delivered by Mike Georgoff, Chief Product Officer of H-E-B, Digital. Georgoff is charged with weaving digital deep into the fabric of H-E-B, one of the nation’s leading independent food retailers and the largest privately held employer in Texas. He has played critical strategy and product roles at Redbox and RetailMeNot, propelling each from early stage development to $1 billion+ publicly traded companies. In his keynote, Georgoff will provide a brief exploration of truly transformational innovation – the type that redefines industries.
Following the keynote address, a panel of C-suite executives will discuss how they are disrupting their respective industry. Panelists include Dr. John C. Carrano, Chairman and CEO of Paratus Diagnostics; John Kinzer, President and CEO of Visionary Fiber Technologies; Scott Dunn, CEO of Urban Mining. GSMP President Adriana Cruz will moderate the panel.
The program will conclude with the presentation of the Dick Burdick Award for Innovation. A local company will be recognized for its ability to find creative solutions to complex problems through innovative methods, ideas, products, and practices.
“Our region is quickly becoming recognized as a center for innovation,” said Adriana Cruz, President of the Greater San Marcos Partnership. “The Innovation Summit provides the opportunity for us to recognize the ingenuity taking place in our region, and its impact on our industries, consumers, and our economy.”
