Annual Women’s Art Show and celebrations underway at the Price Center

Staff Reports

SAN MARCOS – For the fourth consecutive year, women and their art are being celebrated in conjunction with International Women’s Day in San Marcos.

Event founder, Debangana Banerjee, the Price Center Arts Committee, and local artist Jennifer Epperson have put together No Limits, an all-women’s art show, and a series of events to gather, celebrate, share, and learn more about the female experience from March 5 to April 23.

Kay Hughes’ Quiet Cove, an acrylic painting.

The centerpiece of the celebration is the visual arts show titled No Limits, which hangs throughout the Price Center Galleries from March 5 to April 23. The vibrant 65-piece exhibit titled No Limits, features a wide variety of media, subjects, and creative techniques.

Female artists throughout San Marcos and the greater hill country, 20 of whom who are new to the Center, contributed works to this inspiring show. Color and texture play a significant role in the exhibit through several fiber-art works, paintings, mosaics, and assemblages. Many of the artworks are for sale, and a portion of any sales benefits the ongoing art efforts at the Center.

A series of free gathering events will complete this year’s festivities beginning with the Opening Reception on March 11 from 6-8 p.m., followed by a Poetry Sharing Circle on March 24 from 6-7 p.m., and an Art Talk Brown Bag on April 6, from noon-2 p.m.

Rotating Art Shows are created, curated, and conducted by the Price Center Arts Committee and funded in part through a grant from the San Marcos Arts Commission.
