Anthony Stahl, Ph.D., has been named chief executive officer for Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) in San Marcos, Texas, effective October 5, 2015. He currently serves as administrator for Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center-Lake Placid and vice president for the Florida Hospital Heartland Sebring and Wauchula campuses. All hospitals are part of Adventist Health System based in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
“I believe that it is a sacred calling to lead as a hospital CEO,” said Don Jernigan, President/CEO of Adventist Health System. “We are blessed to have Anthony answer that call, and we have confidence in his focus on our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ to those we serve and especially in the San Marcos community.”
Stahl began his health care management career in 2006 as HR and Marketing Director at Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital in California. He joined Adventist Health System’s Florida Hospital Heartland Division in 2010 as executive director of HR and organizational development and was promoted to vice president of support and ancillary services in 2011 before taking his current role in 2012.

During Stahl’s tenure, he provided oversight for many accomplishments at Florida Hospital Heartland – Lake Placid, including the development of a new surgery service line, earning recognition as the top performing emergency department within Adventist Health System and producing employee initiatives for his direct reporting teams resulting in world class Gallup engagement scores.
Prior to joining health care, Stahl served in various roles, including executive director and bureau chief for Adventist Disaster Relief Agency (ADRA) in Maryland, Nicaragua and Peru. He holds a doctorate in leadership, a Master of Science in administration from Andrews University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Walla Walla College. Stahl is a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives, as well as a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration. His hobbies include playing basketball and racquetball and traveling with his wife of 21 years, Karina, and their two teenage sons.
Stahl replaces Sam Huenergardt, who assumed the CEO role of Adventist Health System’s Parker Adventist Hospital in July. Jim Boyle, who has been serving as interim CEO, will return to focusing on his health care management consulting services.
