AOPA Joins Go Wheels Up For 2020 Fly-In And Airshow At San Marcos Airport

Thousands of pilots and aviation enthusiasts will descend upon San Marcos Regional Airport on May 29-30, 2020 for the annual Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Regional Fly-In.

This will be AOPA’s second visit to San Marcos, where they hosted the inaugural event in 2014.

AOPA will be teaming up with Go Wheels Up! Texas, creating a new and one-of-a-kind experience for attendees. The extravaganza will combine Go Wheels Up signature airshows, concerts, and car show events with AOPA’s fly-in, seminars, exhibits, short takeoff and landing (STOL) invitational, and drone show.

“We are thrilled that these two events are converging in San Marcos,” said Texas Aviation Partners Director of Marketing and Business Development Cassidy Berenato. “Go Wheels Up hosted a first-class event last year and the addition of AOPA will help us reach a wider audience and show off our incredible airport. It’s a rare opportunity to host a family-friendly event that will appeal to both pilots and non-pilots.”

Berenato said that as the largest pilot organization in the world, AOPA has the ability to attract visitors from all over the country which will help draw attendees for future airport events.

The event is anticipated to bring an excess of 10,000 spectators and 500 aircrafts to the airfield over the course of the weekend.
