Art Squared Arts Market Kicks Off Return To Downtown San Marcos For 2019

San Marcos, Texas – Art Squared Arts Market will begin their 2019 season on Saturday, March 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the Courthouse Square in downtown San Marcos.

Art Squared Arts Market is held every second Saturday, March through December and features regional artists offering original handmade art and fine crafts.

Residents are invited to experience a wide selection of handcrafted works by 40-50 artists, including ceramics, glass, metalwork, photography, wood, drawings and pastels, jewelry, sculpture, leather, painting and mixed media. Attendees will enjoy live music on the shaded Courthouse lawn along with demonstrations and free children’s art activities. There is free parking and admission.

Featured Artist: San Marcos High School Department of Visual Arts and Artist Ana Rae

March is Youth Art Month, so organizers will be highlighting budding artist Ana Rae who’s unique style shines through in her figure drawing and portraiture plus the San Marcos High School Visual Arts.

The Visual Arts program offers a wide range of visual arts courses as well as exhibits student artworks across the community and state. Student work will be featured and available for purchase at Art Squared.

Featured Musician: Sasha Klare-Ayvazian (Sasha K.A.)

Attendees will hear a live performance by Sasha Klare-Ayvazian (Sasha K.A.). Sasha has been writing and performing personal, yet relatable songs all over the country for the last two decades.

For this performance, he will be joined by Chris E. Peterson. Chris plays fiddle, mandolin, guitar, percussion and sings in several Austin bands.

Featured Community Organization: Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos

Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos is a cultural center in the heart of San Marcos, Texas, and its Mexican American barrios. The cultural center is made up of four components: an art gallery, library, museum and programs that make Centro such a lively place.
