Austin Habitat for Humanity will host their Fall 2019 Wall-Raising Ceremony for a local San Marcos family on Saturday, September 7, at 8 AM.
The organization will raise the first walls or frame of the Brantley Family home with the help of Austin Habitat for Humanity homeowners, community volunteers and corporate sponsors.
Connie Brantley is a San Marcos native, a local preschool teacher and the adoptive mother of two children, who says she feels a deep connection to her hometown community.
According to Austin Habitat for Humanity, one of her lifelong dreams has been to stay and raise a family in San Marcos surrounded by her friends and family; “while Connie recognized the next step for her family was a safe and stable home, homeownership always felt out of reach due to Central Texas’ current affordable housing crisis.”
In partnership with Austin Habitat for Humanity and its efforts in Hays County, Connie and her children will have the ability to put down roots in San Marcos.
To mark the beginning of Connie’s homeownership journey, Austin Habitat for Humanity will be holding a wall-raising ceremony at the site of her future home. This event will be a special moment in which Connie and her children will raise the first wall of the home alongside volunteers, community leaders, and corporate sponsors.
Since 1985, Austin Habitat for Humanity has built over 450 homes (with 17 located in San Marcos).
“Through stable mortgage payments, Connie can save for her higher education, her children can have a quiet place to study, and the family can build long-term financial stability,” the organization said.
The community is invited to celebrate this milestone in the Brantley Family’s lives and to participate in the creation of a stronger and more vibrant San Marcos. The ceremony will be held at 1132 Overlook Way, San Marcos, TX 78666.
