The City of Austin, in partnership with the City’s Ethics Review Commission and the League of Women Voters – Austin Area, will conduct a series of City Council candidate forums for the November 2018 municipal election.
Five Council districts and the Mayor will be up for election November 6, 2018. Forums will consist of brief opening and closing statements from candidates and questions from the League of Women Voters moderator.
Each forum will be an opportunity for Austinites to listen to candidates express their views so audience members can understand their positions and make informed voting decisions.
Besides the forums, the City will produce video statements from the candidates that will be recorded by ATXN, the City’s municipal television station.
The forums will take place:
The League of Women Voters also will publish answers to a questionnaire provided to all candidates. The statements and questionnaire will be available on austintexas.gov.
Council Offices are elected for four-year terms. For more information, including a list of candidates, go to www.austintexas.gov/10-ONE.
