SAN MARCOS – Author and poet Erika Sánchez will hold a reading and book signing at Texas State University Thursday, Feb. 27.
The reading will be held at Flowers Hall, Room 230 at 3:30 PM. She will also hold a reading at 7:30 PM Friday, Feb. 28, at the Katherine Anne Porter Literary Center in Kyle.
The events are free and open to the public.
Sánchez’s debut poetry collection, Lessons on Expulsion, was a finalist for the PEN America Open Book Award. Her debut young adult novel, I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, is a New York Times bestseller, a National Book Awards finalist and won the Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children’s Book Award for 2016-17.
She is a recent recipient of the 21st Century Award from the Chicago Public Library Foundation and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Poetry.
Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Pleiades, Vinyl Poetry, Guernica, Boston Review, ESPN.com, The Paris Review, Gulf Coast, POETRY Magazine and the New York Times Magazine.
