Basket Weaving Workshops Coming Soon To Price Center

“This series of workshops is a nice compliment to the ongoing heritage arts practiced monthly at the Center and the recent one-off workshops we’ve hosted with LifeLong Learning smtx,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director.

San Marcos, TX – Local fiber and basket artist Cricket Rose is bringing three new creative workshops to the Price Center beginning Oct. 12. Each workshop will consist of two, four-hour sessions held on consecutive Wednesdays and Fridays.

Each workshop will focus on a separate type of basket weaving and all materials will be provided. All three workshops require advance registration and payment of a $35 fee.

“This series of workshops is a nice compliment to the ongoing heritage arts practiced monthly at the Center and the recent one-off workshops we’ve hosted with LifeLong Learning SMTX,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director. “Folks seem to like the short-term commitment mixed with ability to learn a new creative skill and walk away with a finished product.”

Bean Pot with Handle will focus on a Colonial style design and take place on Oct. 10 and 12 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Cherokee-style Double Wall Bowl will focus on a native design and take place on Nov. 7 and 9 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Swirling Star Bowl will focus on a Hermitage style design and take place on Dec. 12 and 14 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

To register or for more information, please call the Price Center directly at 512-392-2900 or stop by 222 W. San Antonio St., downtown San Marcos, Mon. – Fri., 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
