Dollars donated to the annual fund also increased 8% from $1.2 million in 2014 to $1.3 million in 2015. Additional donations to endowments, facility enhancements and capital projects brought the department’s total fundraising for the 2015 giving year to $4,585,688.
“It is extremely fulfilling to know that our Bobcat Club members truly support the total student-athlete experience – both academic and athletic.” said Assistant Athletic Director for Development Josh Whittenburg. “The student-athletes that compete and learn at Texas State today will be leaders in the state of Texas and beyond tomorrow. Our donors have a part in that. We sincerely thank them for their support.”
Increased support is vital to the success of the Texas State Athletic Department as scholarship costs continue to rise. Last year, the department’s $6.5 million scholarship budget marked its single greatest expenditure, and, with the addition of Cost of Attendance in 2016, educational costs for the department will likely exceed $7 million.
About the Bobcat Club
The Bobcat Club is the principal fundraising arm of the Texas State Intercollegiate Athletics Department. The Bobcat Club provides a way for supporters to help talented Texas State student-athletes receive a top-tier education while pursuing their goals both on and off the field of competition. While the primary focus is providing scholarship support for student-athletes, the Bobcat Club is also focused on raising money for facilities upgrades and high impact projects that directly benefit our student-athletes.
