SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State baseball team dropped a 7-4 midweek decision to Sam Houston State Tuesday night at Bobcat Ballpark.

Junior Travon Benton and sophomore Jonathan Ortega both finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Ortega scored once, while Benton drove in a run and also touched home.

Junior Cam Baird (0-2) took the loss on the mound after conceding three runs (one earned) on five hits in the first 2.2 frames. He also struck out five and walked just one.

Dakota Mills (1-1) threw 5.2 frames for the Bearkats and collected the win after giving up three runs on seven hits. Nick Mikolajchak pitched the final 1.1 innings and picked up the save.

Chisolm tallied three hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Andrew Fregia went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a pair of runs.
