Body found in Seguin along the Guadalupe River

Earlier this week, a body was found along the Guadalupe River near Seguin, and the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Deputies were notified of the body in the area of FM 1117 at the Guadalupe River bridge on Monday.

According to officials, the state of decomposition was advanced, causing the person’s identity, gender, age or ethnicity not to be determined. Results of the autopsy are currently pending.

“At this time, it cannot be determined how long the body had been at this location,” the sheriff’s office said.

Officials did say that the body does not belong to Jason Landry, a 21-year-old Texas State University Student who went missing over a year ago in Luling.

Landry was driving home to Missouri City for Christmas break on Dec. 14 around midnight and vanished after crashing his vehicle into a tree in Luling. Investigating officers found his personal items and car but have not located him.

A Facebook page dedicated to finding Landry posted that they are aware of the body found on Monday and are confident it doesn’t belong to the missing student.

“Thank you to the many people that messaged us about this,” the post said. “Moreover, law enforcement is aware of Jason’s disappearance near there and they already have all of the necessary dental and DNA records to make an identification/exclusion decision vis-à-vis Jason.”
