(The following is a press release sent out by the City of Kyle)
Bacterial analysis of the water samples have come back negative and the boil water order has been lifted for the affected businesses.
City of Kyle water crews were called out to the southwest corner of I35 and Kyle Parkway to repair a 16-inch water line that was broken by a construction contractor. The call came in around 9:30 on Friday morning, October 3rd, and repairs were complete by 1:30pm.
Due to the extent of the damage to the water line, the following businesses located at the intersection of Kyle Parkway and Interstate 35 were issued a public notice to boil water order: McDonalds, Whataburger, Chase Bank, & Wells Fargo Bank.
City crews were also on site with the affected businesses throughout the day on Friday to keep them and their customers informed regarding the situation. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality was also notified to ensure all public notification procedures were in place and followed.
The notice was issued as a precautionary measure due to the disruption of water service to these businesses. Following normal procedures, city crews collected samples of the water and sent them for bacterial analysis.
The notice was limited to only the businesses listed above and no residential areas were affected.
