ARLINGTON, Texas – Jaliyah Bolden was named to the 2016 SBC Championship All-Tournament Team, the league announced Sunday afternoon.
The junior member of the Texas State volleyball team was honored following a dominant pair of matches in the postseason tournament.
She registered 37 kills and just eight errors on 68 swings for a .426 attack percentage. The kill total was Bolden’s highest recorded in back-to-back matches in her career. She hit .425 or better in both matches, which was the first time in her career that she posted a percentage of .400 or higher in back-to-back matches.
In Texas State’s 3-0 quarterfinal victory over South Alabama, she led both teams with 16 kills on a .429 hitting percentage. She also added a match-high four blocks and scored 18 points for the Bobcats.
Against Coastal Carolina in the semifinals, she posted a match-high 21 kills on a .425 attack percentage. Bolden outplayed CCU’s Leah Hardeman, who was honored as both the SBC Player of the Year and the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Hardeman was one kill shy of Bolden’s total and registered just a .390 hitting percentage.
Bolden’s efforts this season helped lead Texas State to a 21-12 record. The Bobcats also finished second in the SBC West Division at 13-3.
