Bonham PreK School Registration Politics

Although, Bonham is a PUBLIC school, paid for by YOUR taxes and COST $12.7 Million in Bond money to build…(then flooded 3X in its first year);

If your child speaks English, has a roof over their head and you feed them at home then YOU will have to PAY $3,900 for your child to attend Pre-K.

Fair?

What are the Qualifications for the Free State-Mandated Prekindergarten Program?

To be eligible for enrollment in the state-mandated pre-k program, a child must be four years of age on or before September 1st of the current school year, live in the district, and must:

  • Be unable to speak and/or comprehend the English language: or
  • Be educationally disadvantaged (Qualify for free/reduced lunch); or
  • Be homeless, as defined by 43 U.S.C. Section 11302; or
  • Be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States; or
  • Be the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or
  • Currently or ever have been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family Protective Services following an adversary hearing under Family Code 262.201

State mandated enrollment eligibility qualifications are in place as protection measures to ensure  no child gets left behind.

If I Do Not Meet any of the Criteria Listed Above, Can My Child Still Attend?

Yes, children will become eligible to attend under the tuition supported prekindergarten program if they are four years old on or before September 1st of the current school year and DO NOT qualify for either the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) or the state mandated prekindergarten program (see above).

What are the Benefits of the Tuition Supported Pre-Kindergarten Program?

  • Certified teacher and instructional assistant in every classroom specifically trained to work with young children
  • Focused on developing children academically, physically, and socially
  • Curriculum directly aligned to the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines
  • Child-centered, hands-on learning
  • Full School day programming from 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Will Transportation Services and/or After school Services be Available?

Transportation services are available for both the free and tuition-supported program students.  After-school care is offered by the Sunset After-School Program which is serviced independently from the school district and is available for an additional cost.

How Can I Start the Registration Process?

Registration for both the free and tuition-based program students will begin at the Bonham Pre-Kindergarten School located at 1225 Hwy 123, San Marcos, TX 78666 beginning on June 6.   There will be a limited amount of slots available for the tuition-supported program and registration will be on a first come first serve basis.  There are no limits for students who are eligible for the free state-mandated prekindergarten program.

What is the cost for the Tuition Supported Prekindergarten Program?

The annual tuition cost is $3,900 per student.  We will offer three methods of payments: one annual payment, two semester payments, or ten (10) monthly payments due on or before the 15th of every month. Discounts are available for annual and semester payment options.

The San Marcos CISD calculated these rates without state or federal involvement. The district has allocated the incoming tuition revenue to pay for additional staff needed for each classroom. $3,900 x 22 Students= Cost of FTE Teachers and FTE Teachers Aides.
