Breaking: APD Investigates Shooting

Deceased:    Alfred Matthews, black male, D.O.B. 2-24-88
 
On Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11:34 a.m. APD officers were dispatched to a shooting that had just occurred in the parking lot of the Park Plaza apartments located at 6200 Loyola Lane. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered the victim, identified as Alfred Matthews, on the ground with a gunshot wound. The suspect, who was identified as 21-year-old Zachary Daniel Payne, fled the scene.
 
Matthews was transported to the University Medical Center at Brackenridge, where he was pronounced deceased at 12:12 p.m. Payne was later apprehended by Intel officers.
 
On July 19, 2016, an autopsy was performed by the Travis County Medical Examiner and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
 
Murder charges are pending on Zachary Daniel Payne.
