BREAKING: Inmate Trustee Escapes Hays County Custody While Working

At approximately 1:10 p.m., an Inmate Trustee escaped custody from the Hays County Sheriff’s Office. The subject was doing landscape work in the front of the Hays County Law Enforcement:

Center at: 1307 Uhland Road, San Marcos, TX 78666

 

The subject is identified as:

Omar Maya-Rangel, Hispanic Male, 29 years of age

Last known residence: Kyle area

He was in jail for:

  • Theft X 2
  • Credit Card Abuse

 

The subject’s criminal history involves property and fraud-type offenses. He does not appear to be a threat to the community.

 

Anyone with information regarding this individual should contact the Hays County Sheriff’s Office at 512-393-7896 and ask to speak with the Criminal Investigations Division or you may contact the Hays County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-324-TIPS (8477).

Should your information lead to the arrest and indictment of the suspect(s), you will be eligible for a CASH reward of up to $1,000. All calls are confidential and callers will remain anonymous.
