BREAKING: Kyle PD Conducting Investigation Into Possible Homicide

Detectives and officers from the Kyle Police Department are investigating an incident that took place Saturday night that resulted in the shooting death of a Kyle woman.

Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said police received a 9-1-1 call at 7:50 p.m. saying someone inside the home in the 100 block of Grant Way was injured.

“Our officers arrived within a few minutes,” he said. “They saw an adult female laying in the front yard who appeared to be deceased.”

Kyle police have arrested James Craig Keen, 49, from Kyle, and booked him into the Hays County Sherriff’s Office Jail for 1st Degree Murder. The arrest occurred at approximately 10:50pm Saturday night.

The victim has been identified as Erin Wright, 39, also of Kyle, Tx.

Three children were also in the home; they are unharmed and are currently in the custody of the Kyle Victim Services Coordinator. Police do not believe the male and female were married but said they have information that shows the two were living together.

Judge Beth Smith, Hays County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace, pronounced the female in the yard deceased and ordered an autopsy.

We will update this release with additional information as it becomes available.
