Kyle PD Find Mock TSA Training Devices, Austin PD Bomb Unit And ATF Assist

The Austin Police Department bomb unit, along with the ATF Field Office from the Austin area assisted Kyle Police Department on a suspicious package call.

On Saturday, November 10, 2018 the Austin Police Department bomb unit, along with the ATF Field Office from the Austin area assisted Kyle Police Department on a suspicious package call.

Once rendered safe, it was determined the device was a mock TSA training device that was inadvertently sold to a private citizen at a government surplus store.

To date, APD has been able to determine the mock training devices may have been located in crock pots and printers in a box (model: E709-A Hewlett Packard) sold at the surplus store.

APD is asking that if you bought a crock pot or printer in a box (model: E709-A Hewlett Packard) since August of 2018 from the State Surplus Store located at 6506 Bolm Road, that you return the item or call 9-1-1 and your local law enforcement can assist. APD wants to stress that the devices are not explosive or harmful, but can appear that way.
