Kyle, TX – Kyle Police arrested a man in connection with the death of an adult male in Kyle last night. KPD Chief Jeff Barnett said his agency charged Andrew Ruben Martinez of Kyle with murder.

At approximately 10:45 p.m. Wednesday night, Kyle Police responded to a call reporting possible gunshots in the Waterleaf neighborhood. Officers arrived on scene in the 100 block of Myrtle St. and found one adult male victim outside with injuries. Medical personnel from San Marcos / Hays County EMS treated him at the scene but the individual did not survive.

Hays County Justice of the Peace Beth Smith pronounced the victim deceased at 12:02 a.m. She also ordered an autopsy. The victim’s name is not being released until police notify next of kin.

KPD Chief Jeff Barnett said officers and detectives are actively processing the crime scene. “We are following leads and interviewing witnesses,” he said. “This appears to be an isolated incident. We do not believe there is any threat to the community at large.”

Shortly after the incident, Barnett said his officers and Hays County Sheriff’s Deputies located and detained several individuals who are being questioned for possible involvement in the incident. That’s when KPD arrested Martinez, who was booked into the Hays County Jail.

No additional information is available at this point in the investigation.
