BREAKING NEWS: Lockhart Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle, SMPD Investigating

The San Marcos police are investigating the death of Abner Dean Branch, Jr, after he was struck and killed by a tractor-trailor on IH-35 this afternoon (Tuesday, September 9).

Branch was on foot, walking down the right shoulder of the S-IH 35 railroad overpass between Hwy 80 and Hwy 82 when he was hit by the trailor driving in the far right lane. 911 was called at 1:51 p.m. and emergency responders reportedly arrived six minutes later, but Branch was pronunced dead on the scene.

The victim would have celebrated his 53rd birthday this Thursday.

The driver, who’s name was not released, was uninjured and was not cited by police, but the Collision Investigative Team (CIT) continues to investigate the auto-pedestrian fatality.
