San Marcos Police are investigating a gunshot death that occurred early Monday morning outside a residence in the 2000 block of Hunter Road.
**A correction was made to this article. The City of San Marcos originally identified Judge Jo Anne Prado as the Justice of the Peace who pronounced the victim deceased. However, it was Justice of the Peace, Maggie Hernandez Moreno, who pronounced Mr. Casteneda dead.
San Marcos Police are investigating a gunshot death that occurred early Monday morning outside a residence in the 2000 block of Hunter Road.
At 2:17 a.m., officers responded to Twin Lakes Villas for what was initially an EMS call regarding a man on the ground not breathing. When officers arrived, they found Robert Lee Casteneda (DOB 08/13/1986) face down and unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and arm.
Casteneda was declared deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Maggie Hernandez Moreno.
On-call Criminal Investigation Division detectives responded, and their investigation is ongoing.
This is the fourth homicide in San Marcos this year.
