SAN MARCOS — On Tuesday, August 17, at approximately 2:31 p.m. the San Marcos Police Department announced an active investigation at the Days Inn Hotel located off of the southbound I-35 service road.

According to SMPD, the suspect was detained around 4 p.m. and the scene is being cleared by law enforcement. Due to the heavy police presence, law enforcement asks people to continue to avoid the area and drive carefully.

The Days Inn Hotel is located between East Hopkins Street and Rio Vista Street. SWAT and local law enforcement blocked access to Hopkins Street and the I-35 access road during their attempt to make an arrest, which caused traffic in the area.

This is an ongoing investigation, San Marcos Corridor News will provide updates and additional information as it become available.
