Breaking: Stalking Investigation Leads To Vehicle Pursuit, Injuries

The San Marcos Police Department is investigating the stalking incident that led up to the pursuit, and the New Braunfels Police Department is investigating the collision that occurred in their jurisdiction.

A San Marcos man led San Marcos police on a vehicle pursuit and crashed his car in New Braunfels Monday morning.

A woman called police just after 9:30 a.m. and told them that Macleen William Trainor (DOB 11/13/1989) was stalking her daughter and that he was at Bonham Pre-K, her place of work. 

The officer meeting with the victim and complainant observed the suspect vehicle near the school, and additional officers responded to the area. The officer also learned that the suspect texted a picture of a gun to the complainant and told her that he knew that officers were looking for him. He also texted a threat to use the gun on himself because he “was not going back to jail.”

A San Marcos police officer contacted Trainor’s vehicle, a dark blue Nissan pickup, and ordered him out of the vehicle. Trainor refused to comply with orders and fled in the truck down Hwy 123 and then to FM 1101.

The pursuit reached speeds up to 100 miles per hour and came to an end when Trainor crashed into two vehicles, a silver Acura sedan and a silver Honda Odyssey minivan, at the intersection of FM 1101 and FM 306 in New Braunfels. During the resulting crash, Trainer was ejected from his vehicle and taken to University Hospital in San Antonio in critical condition. 

According to New Braunfels police, the driver of the minivan, a 52-year old woman from New Braunfels along with three children inside the vehicle (ages 2, 2, and 4) all suffered injuries in the crash and were taken to nearby Resolute Hospital for treatment. 

One of the 2-year old children was later transported to University Hospital in San Antonio to treat serious but not life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the sedan, a 71-year old man from New Braunfels, was treated by EMS at the scene and released.

San Marcos Police will charge Trainor with stalking when he recovers from his injuries, and the New Braunfels Police Department will charge him with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
