BREAKING: Threat To A Hays CISD Campus Leads To An Arrest

During the overnight hours Hays CISD received information about a possible gun threat to Lehman HS

During the overnight hours Hays CISD received information about a possible gun threat to Lehman HS which resulted in the arrest of a 14-year-old, 9th grader who had left enrollment at the campus last week.

The alleged threat to Lehman was made online, and Hays CISD sent the following letter to staff and parents.

Dear Lobo Parents,

I need to share with you some information about a situation that occurred overnight. Late Thursday evening, March 2, 2017, I was informed of a possible threat involving a student bringing a gun to school. Lehman High School administration in partnership with Hays CISD administration and Hays County Sheriff’s Department immediately began an investigation. Before sunrise this morning, Friday, March 3, 2017, the student, who is not currently enrolled at Hays CISD was charged and detained for making a threat.

We are confident that Lehman High School is not currently in danger, but maintain a commitment to high level monitoring and awareness to ensure the safety of our students and staff.  In addition to my administrative team adjusting schedules to spend more time in the halls, law enforcement will also have a stronger presence on campus today. Likewise, I will be away from my desk and out on campus, but also want to continue to communicate with you should you have any questions. Please direct questions or concerns to my secretary Gina Carnline at 512.268.8454 and I will return your call as quickly as possible.

I am committed to ensuring that Lehman High School is a safe school that fosters and focuses on quality teaching and learning. Thank you for your partnership and support in making that happen.

Sincerely,

Denisha Presley,

Principal – Lehman High School
