Breaking: TxState Student Assaulted, Robbed In Dorm Room

Police are looking for five suspects after they allegedly assaulted and robbed a Texas State student in his dorm room, Thursday.

The incident happened around 9:35 pm at Smith Hall. The five male suspects knocked on the student’s door and assaulted him before taking several items from his room. The suspects fled in an unknown direction.

University Officials said all Texas State dorms have key cards, locks on student doors and staff members, who are on-call, on each floor. Student policy says students should only allow people they know through the doors.

Texas State University had a similar incident happen in April at Sterry Hall when a stranger entered a dorm and touched one of the residents. The Sterry Hall suspect was arrested.

As of now, police said there have been no arrests made in the Smith Hall case; they are still looking for the suspects. The five males are described as follows:

  • Hispance/African American male in gray pants and a gray hoody, 5’6″ tall
  • African American male in blue jacket and blue jeans, 6’4″ tall
  • African American male, large, 5’6″ tall
  • Hispanic male in a black shirt and jeans, straight hair
  • White male in a white shirt and gray pants

Officials asks anyone who sees anything suspicious on campus to contact the University Police Department, 512-245-2805. Bobcat Bobbies is available to escort any student home on campus at night, 512-245-7233.
