Staff Reports
The City of Buda has canceled this weekend’s Buda Trail of Lights event due to impending weather.
This weekend kicked off Thursday, December 6, with Seniors Night; however, a cold front is slowly moving across the Interstate 35 corridor this morning and potent upper-level system moving across the area later this evening are forecast to produce locally heavy rainfall this afternoon and evening through Saturday morning.
As a precaution, city officials have decided to cancel the event for Friday, December 7, and Saturday, December 8. Buda’s Trail of Lights will return next weekend, December 14-16.
The Trail of Lights is a free holiday event that features lighted and decorated displays that are provided by local businesses and organizations. Visitors are able to walk the lighted trail in the park to view the dazzling exhibits, sip hot chocolate and meet Santa himself.
Hours: 6 pm – 10 pm (with the exception of Senior Night on December 6, which is 6 pm – 9 pm)
Parking at Cabela’s: Parking is at Cabela’s and we will shuttle you to Stagecoach Park.
For those who are handicapped, or can’t walk long distances, there will be golf carts available. A volunteer will drive you along the trail. Visitors do not need to make accommodations ahead of time. If an individual wants to use a wheelchair on the trail, they can.
Visitors are advised that it is a granite trail and is a mile and a half long. The path is 10 feet wide. If attendees have additional questions regarding handicap service, please call the Buda Parks and Recreation Director Greg Olmer at 512-523-1068.
