Buda Police Department Investigates Fatal Hit & Run Accident

BUDA, TX –  The Buda Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident which resulted in the death of 67-year-old Viola Garcez.

On Saturday, October 10, 2020, officers were dispatched to 15300 IH 35, Buda, TX (also known as HEB) for a motor vehicle vs pedestrian traffic accident.

Upon arrival, officers learned Viola Garcez was struck in the middle of the crosswalk by a male subject driving a grey Chevrolet Silverado which had fled the scene heading southbound on the frontage road.

Hays County Dispatch was provided with an update of the vehicle’s direction of travel, and the Kyle Police Department was able to locate the suspect vehicle and conduct a traffic stop.

The suspect, identified as Jeffrey Conzemius (58), was charged with Accident Involving Death and transported to the Hays County Jail.

Garcez was transported by EMS to Seton Hays Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy was performed and the stated preliminary cause of death was “multiple traumatic injuries”.
