Call For Artists – Crockett Elementary School Mural

The goals of this project are to beautify the school with a child-inspired theme and to deter future graffiti.

The City of San Marcos Mural Arts Committee is seeking proposals from Central Texas area artists to design and create a mural at Crockett Elementary School.

This mural will be the one of several murals created throughout the city.

The artist stipend for this project is $3,700. Materials for the project will be provided by the City of San Marcos. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017.

The goals of this project are to beautify the school with a child-inspired theme and to deter future graffiti.

The Mural Art Committee comprised of city staff from the Community Services Division and local artists expect the project to meet the following objectives:

  1. To create a mural that is colorful and inspiring for children. Mixed media designs are preferred.
  2. To create a mural that can be painted collaboratively with the artist and local children and adults.
  3. To create a mural that is reflective of its surroundings and of the community values.

The committee and representatives from Crockett Elementary will review that proposals and seek input from the Crockett Community.

The selected artist will be expected to complete the project during the summer months with the assistance of local youth.
