CAMPO to hold third public comment period for western Caldwell County transportation study

CALDWELL COUNTY, TEXAS – The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), in partnership with Caldwell County, invite the public to learn about and participate in the third open house and public comment period for the Western Caldwell County Transportation Study available November 5 – December 10, 2021.

The online open house is an opportunity for the public to review and learn about the recommended roadway alignments to improve connections between IH 35 and SH 130, complete a survey, and leave comments on an interactive map.

The purpose of the study is to explore transportation needs and potential solutions to improve travel and road connections between IH 35 and SH 130, including potential new road corridors or extending and modifying existing roads to help with east-west travel.

This is the final phase of this study and community input is needed as the recommended roadway alignments move further into detailed environmental evaluation, design, and engineering.

“We look forward to hearing from the public about these potential road improvements,” said Commissioner Edward Theriot, Precinct 3 and member of the CAMPO Transportation Policy Board. “The proposed alignments reflect the feedback we heard from the community and will help improve travel in a rapidly growing part of the county and region.”

Online open house material can be accessed at campotexas.org/get-involved. Printed material and postage-paid comment cards are available for those who prefer to comment in writing by mail and can be requested by calling 512-436-3712.

Requests to set up an appointment to talk with study staff can also be made at that number or by emailing comments@campotexas.org.
