CAPTURED: Hays County Most Wanted sex offender arrested in San Marcos

HAYS COUNTY – The Hays County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) recently arrested a 58-year-old San Marcos man who was listed on the Hays County Crime Stoppers Most Wanted list. Robert Bernal had a warrant out for his arrest for sexual assault of a child.

“Last night, someone called Crime Stoppers to give the location of where Bernal was at that time and Hays County deputies responded immediately and took him into custody without incident,” said the HCSO.

According to jail records, the incident Bernal was arrested for occured on March 8, 2020. As of publication, Bernal remains in the Hays County Jail with a bond set at $100,000.

The HCSO said they appreciate the caller for helping them bring a wanted felon into custody. Since the case is still pending prosecution, that is all the information HCSO can release at this time.

There are still 10 criminals listed on the Hays County Most Wanted list. Their crimes range from family violence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, intoxicated manslaughter, sexual assault, and drug possession.
