CASA, First Lady Cecilia Abbott Honored As Champions For Texas Children

Governor Greg Abbott yesterday delivered remarks at the 25th anniversary luncheon for Texas Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA). At the luncheon, the Governor and First Lady Cecilia Abbott were also honored as “Champions for Texas Children.” Texas CASA supports local volunteer programs and advocates for effective public policy for children in the child protection system.
“Children with a CASA advocate are more likely to find a safe, permanent home, do better in school and they’re more likely to have a positive attitude about the future,” Governor Abbott said in his speech. “Because of you, the future is brighter. On behalf of the First Lady, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you for making a difference, one child at a time.”
Excerpts From Governor Abbott’s CASA 25th Anniversary Remarks:
“CASA galvanizes the support that so many Texans want to provide. You provide a voice to those who need it most. Texas children are better because of CASA and volunteers like you.”
“Children with a CASA advocate are more likely to find a safe, permanent home, do better in school and they are more likely to have a positive attitude about the future.”
“No Government mandate, no edict coerced you to volunteer. You did because of your strength of character. With open arms, a warm heart and a determined spirit, you are transforming lives one child at a time.”
“Because of you so many children will go on to get jobs, to lead productive lives, raise families of their own and become beacons of hope for others.”
